1985
Iowa - Volume 3
Upset
in the Rain
The 1985 Big Ten battle between the Ohio
State Buckeyes and the number one-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes
is a true college football classic.
Played
in a persistent November rain, the underdog Buckeyes
overcame the loss of star running back Keith Byars,
and turned in one the most inspired performances in
the history of Ohio State football.
Iowa
was led by the nation's number one passer, Chuck Long,
and the Hawkeyes came into the game looking to exploit
a young Buckeye secondary that had struggled all season.
But the young Bucks responded with a heroic effort
leaving Long lost and the Hawkeyes looking for answers.
To
this day, many Buckeye fans consider the 1985 clash
between Ohio State and Iowa the most exciting and
emotional game they have ever witnessed in the Horseshoe.
