27. 1973 Michigan
When Mike Lantry’s last minute field goal sailed wide left, Ohio State and Michigan’s ‘73 battle ended in a 10-10 tie. But with the teams now tied for the Big Ten crown, the league’s athletic directors were forced to take an unprecedented vote to see who would go to the Rose Bowl.

Conventional wisdom had the Wolverines headed west. But to most people’s surprise the vote went the Buckeyes way, causing joy in Columbus and angst in Ann Arbor.

The Buckeyes proved the Big Ten right six weeks later in Pasadena, when they trounced Southern Cal, 42-21.
