30. Archie’s Debut
Ohio State’s 1972 battle against North Carolina was not going as planned. Trailing 7-0 and stuck in slow motion, an irate Woody Hayes was searching for answers.

At the urging of assistant coach Rudy Hubbard, Hayes called on a little known freshman from Columbus by the name of Griffin.

In a little over three quarters of play, Archie rushed for a new school record; 239 yards, taking him from scout team tailback, to statewide hero. Ohio State football would never be the same.
