38. 1973 Defense
With two offensive stars finishing in the top four in the Heisman Trophy voting, you’d think the 1973 Buckeyes were carried by its offense. But where the offense was electrifying, the defense was historic.

With All-Americans on the line, at linebacker and in the secondary, the ’73 D gave up just 43 points in the regular season, including a five week span where they surrendered just one touchdown to Indiana, and nothing to anyone else.

To this day, no Ohio State defense has surrendered fewer points than the 1973 Buckeyes.
