39.
Jim Stillwagon
He was the last player given a scholarship in Woody Hayes’
famous 1967 recruiting class. But four years later, Jim Stillwagon
was a two-time All-American, the 1970 team MVP and the first
player ever to win both the Lombardi Award and the Outland
Trophy.
One of the fine defensive players ever in Big Ten football,
Stillwagon played down, played up, middle linebacker, or
nose-guard. He could play anywhere and he seemed to be everywhere.
From 1968 to 1970, the Buckeyes yielded
more than 20 points just six times in 29 games. In the center
of it all was Jim Stillwagon.
