1979 UCLA
The 1979 Buckeyes began their season with a new head coach
and question marks galore. Yet in spite of winning their first
three games, uncertainties remained as they headed to Los
Angeles to take on UCLA.
For
the first three quarters, the new-look Buckeyes played the
old-school brand of football Ohio State was famous for.
But with just over two minutes left on the clock, the Bruins
led by three and the Buckeyes knew the time had come to
make their move. Five straight completions moved the offense
onto UCLA’s doorstep. The sixth knocked it in and marked
the onset of a new era in Ohio State football.
