It was the game Buckeye fans had waited more than 20 years for. And when the 1997 Rose Bowl was finally over, everyone agreed it was well worth the wait.

The game was a nip and tuck affair for the first three-and-a-half quarters, but when Arizona State quarterback Jake Plummer snaked his way to a late-game touchdown, it looked like another Buckeye season would end in bowl game heartbreak.

But with just 1:33 remaining, Joe Germaine and the Buckeye offense answered the call with one of Ohio State’s most dramatic drives, and most historic wins.
