1975 Michigan
Back From the Brink
As Ohio State headed into their annual season-ending showdown with Michigan, the 1975 season had already unfolded as one of the most memorable campaigns in Ohio State history. Entering the game, the Buckeyes were undefeated, ranked number one and featured a running back, Archie Griffin, who was soon to be named college football’s first two-time Heisman Trophy winner.
But with just over seven minutes remaining in the game, the Buckeye trailed the Wolverines 14-7 and their national title hopes were in serious jeopardy. What transpired next led Woody Hayes to call this game his “greatest comeback ever.”

The 1979 Ohio State football season was notable for many reasons; none more so than it was the first season in 28 years without Woody Hayes as coach. But behind the leadership of new coach Earle Bruce, the 1979 Buckeyes shocked the nation, rising from relative obscurity and coming within seconds of the national championship.
The road to the Rose Bowl, however, was not without drama. A brilliant two-minute drill versus UCLA, and a thrilling come-from-behind victory at Michigan, made the 1979 season one of the most exciting, and unexpected, seasons in Buckeye history.

Forever Champions
Many people think of the 1968 season as Ohio State’s greatest seasons ever. And while that notion can be debated, one thing is for sure; at the beginning of the ‘68 campaign, few people thought the Buckeyes -- a team dominated by talented but unproven sophomores -- would be undefeated, ranked number one and playing for history on January 1st.
But before their dream season was complete, the Buckeyes had to face the nation’s #2 team and that years Heisman Trophy winner, O.J. Simpson, in the “Granddaddy of Them All” ... the Rose Bowl.
